Introduction to Security Sector Reform [PTP.2020.09E]

This e-Learning course aimed to offer an overview of the concept of Security Sector Reform (SSR), highlight the key SSR actors and their roles and outline the implementation of SSR programmes. With the help of interactive online exercises, participants were able to finish the course with a concrete understanding of the context of human security in peace operations. At the end of the course, participants are able to: 1) Describe the approach, objectives and dimensions of SSR; 2) Describe post-conflict context and the main SSR challenges; 3) Identify key actors at different levels in SSR processes and the coordination mechanisms between them; 4) List specific tools and approaches that are often used in international support of SSR processes.
